I Hate Election Years

it is still Halloween weekend

part of trying to keep my head together
is figuring out this new big vast space of time
that has opened up to me since
the Friday job loss

trying to not be so depressed
that I cannot enjoy the unfolding
of this beautiful holiday
in its three-day splendor

Change creeps up like a motherfucker
a pushy little bitch

or you create change yourself

those who already know me
know I don’t see much hope in
electing any president
which is why I have to stick to
my guns on this one and not vote
I would love to be proven wrong

and I will say that if Obama succeeds
in creating viable positive change
from the white house
then even anarchist voters have proven me wrong
and that’ll snag me for participating in 2012 (buy nothing year!)
