I remember when I worked at that record store I’d have to answer the phone by running off the latest inventory before I could even get to their question. they’d say something like, no, I don’t want the new Babyface album, let me speak to James. or I’d let it slide sometimes, and they’d say, this is the district manager, you’re forgetting to talk up Babyface; don’t forget next time. then I went out to the mailbox. Time Magazine is really trying to get in good with me. comes through every week. reliable garbage until the free subscription runs out. not all NPRs sponsors are so noble. in the day I throw old clothes off the balcony at the cat. he loves and hates it in the way a cat would. wise persons tell me that I need to settle, that moving around this much is not what I need. I sit and listen. I do my time. and listen.
